Bunny Troubles

Gosh it has been so long since I was on here last! So much has happened here that it would take too long to go through... I think I've even moved since I last wrote on this site! I'm still crocheting and I still enjoy my hot cup of tea as I work, so that part hasn't changed :)

Some medical issues did arise. Back in January of 2014 I had a mild stroke (also known as a TIA). Thankfully nothing too severe, though I'm now taking various meds and vitamins to ensure there isn't a relapse. I had a bit of a slur with my speech and my right hand felt like it wasn't my own. It was very odd... I felt more annoyed than worried to be honest LOL!! However these symptoms disappeared after half an hour and I never thought anything of it... until I told my doctor, who gave me what for and began a lot of tests (including being strapped to an MRI which I swear sounded like it was about to fall apart any minute... even through the thick earphones they made me wear). A few other issues came an went, but yeah, that was the biggie.

Still have all 3 cats, but now there are two new additions to the "zoo". My son's girlfriend decided she wanted a bunny. In June she got this little jet black (with grey under her paws) bunny, named Ruby Rose:

She arrived at the house slightly bigger than your hand, and is now about half the size of our cat Salem. Soon after arriving, Ruby immediately began to cause all sorts of trouble. She's already chewed through several electronics (my son's Hello Kitty mouse cord, both of Reika's tablet recharger cords, the cord to an Ikea floor lamp sitting next to the TV, the cord to a standing floor fan, and Reika's cell phone charger cord). Needless to say almost every wire of the house is now duct taped up or been blocked off to keep El Desructo from using them as her next delicacy... especially when one of the next things she was caught trying to sample was the main cable for the internet!!

Reika assumed that Ruby's bad behaviour was due to the lack of a buddy to play with. The 3 cats were obviously not good enough... Salem (the female) did not like Ruby at all (she really isn't a very social cat anyways). She'd run if the bunny came near. She did slap at her a few times and hiss, but no claws were ever used. I did squirt her for doing that and she now just avoids Ruby whenever she's out of her cage. Laszlo (the oldest boy) totally ignored the bunny. He was more annoyed at the "baby" disturbing his nap and merely stalked off if disturbed. Junior tried to play at first, but was overwhelmed after a while (Ruby would climb all over him and charge after him)... he finally had had enough. He too now hides from Ruby. So Reika figured to get a playmate for Ruby... another bunny!

In the pic at right she's seated next to the smallest (and oldest) cat Laszlo (he's about 5 pounds soaking wet LOL) She arrived here the size of your palm (including ears) and is a sort of rusty orange in colour with a cute black patch over her left eye. She looked just like a Tribble... I keep expecting her to trill when I pet her. Unlike her older "sister" Mocha is a sweetie! She loves to be held, likes cuddling (Ruby runs from everyone and kicks when picked up), and Mocha only chews on papers in her cage! The only problem is... Ruby absolutely hates her!

We brought Mocha out to investigate and learn her new home. Ruby, who was out of her cage, decided Mocha must be an enemy and next thing I knew I had a large growling, kicking, hissing rabbit in one hand (I never knew they could growl or hiss) and a cowering powderpuff in the other! Ruby was instantly tossed into isolation while the shivering baby was cuddled and calmed. So now we have two bunnies that have to time share the floor.
